Hey there – thanks for stopping by! I’m Victoria. Let me introduce myself – and a little of the mission behind my words…
The story behind the writer…
I grew up in a Christian home, discipled and homeschooled by my parents and raised in the church my whole life. But it wasn’t until I was around 13 years old that I began to get really serious about my faith. It was also the time I first started Ignited Pennings.
I also joined the Young Writers Workshop at 13, and that experience of being around many other young writers, creators, and achievers really helped to drive me to develop my writing skills at a younger age. I started writing my first stories at five years old, and I’ve written over 4 novel drafts and several shorter works since then.
“The battle is not ours…we fight for something greater. So, we’ll take the torch and carry it for those who’ve gone before…”
– Victoria Julieann –
At fourteen, I started the podcast, “Counter Culture Teen” and enlisted the help of a good friend early on to help. She ended up co-founding the project with me, and to this day, we hope to strengthen the faith of the next generation of young Christians one episode at a time. Counter Culture Teen can be heard on Spotify and YouTube.
In addition to writing and podcasting, I also greatly enjoy music, particularly playing the piano. I also write songs and dabble in other instruments. I’m a veteran pianist with over ten years of experience, and I started playing the piano in my local church at 15 years old. It’s been an honor to be able to serve the Lord in this way and I’m grateful He has opened the door to this opportunity.
Though writing and music has and will continue to be a huge part of my life, I hope to pursue a career in Law Enforcement as a police officer if God wills it.
At the end of the day, I’m just like you. I have hopes, dreams, wants, needs, strengths, and weaknesses. I’m no one particularly special, but that does not mean I’m normal. Because if normal means conforming to culture’s lull of sin, complacency, and apathy, if it means refusing to bow to the true God and instead worship the idol of self, if it means living my life in any other way other than what glorifies the one true King, then I hope that we as Christians will never be normal.
We are heirs of the kingdom, warriors of the faith, children of the King.
By that standard, true Christians should be incapable of being normal because we live as victors with a purpose, and a hope, and a future.
And I hope that my writing at Ignited Pennings will play even a miniscule part in helping the church of today understand that the Christian life is more than just a conversion: it’s a choice to live on fire for the Lord every day.

The Counter Culture Teen is a podcast for teens and young adults who are tired of being subjected to today’s culture’s expectations.
